The fun looking trailer for Afternoon Delight does bring a smile to the face. It stars a group of comedic regulars: Kathryn Hahn, Juno Temple, Josh Radnor, Jane Lynch, Jessica St. Clair and Michaela Watkins.
No novice to comedies, Kathryn Hahn (Parks and Rec, Our Idiot Brother, Step Brothers) stars as Rachel, a peculiar stay-at-home mom who wants to help out a stripper. She tries to understand her own intentions, “Maybe I’m worried about her soul! Is that weird?” The trailer does look funny, but there is a heartfelt quality embedded in the premise. Not solely a comedy, but as well a drama about saving a nineteen-year-old stripper and a marriage that is growing dull. There is a lot to find out.
And then there is Jane Lynch as a psychiatrist which is funny and scary at the same time. Certainly there will be laughs.
Written and directed by Jill Soloway, The Film Arcade will release Afternoon Delight in theaters on August 30, 2013.
