“Before Midnight” press conference 01: Long-term relationships and relationship advice

Jesse and Celine are back!

Now they are an officially married couple and parents of twin girls!  Before Midnight is the sequel to Before Sunset, which itself is the sequel to Before Sunrise.

The 1995 film Before Sunrise is about American college student Jesse (Ethan Hawke) who meets French college student Celine (Julie Delpy) on a train and they end up spending a night together. It is all scripted, but it is so real that is has a documentary-like feel to it. The romantic film brought the Silver Berlin Bear Prize from the Berlin International Film Festival to director Richard Linklater.

Nine years later, in 2004, the Before Sunrise team of Linklater, Hawke and Delpy came back to make Before Sunset, which reacquaints us with Jesse and Celine nine years after the events of the previous film.

And nine years after Before Sunset, they teamed up again for this film, Before Midnight, which is once again about Jesse and Celine’s relationship.
