Romeo and Juliet stars Hailee Steinfeld (Oscar nominee for True Grit) and Douglas Booth wax poetic about Shakespeare in our exclusive WhatsUpHollywood.com video interview. The young stars discuss how they were first introduced to the Bard and their exposure to the romantic classic that is Romeo and Juliet. Some of the challenges they faced included snowy weather on the Italian set, plus the daunting task of portraying such iconic characters and trying to bring something new to them.
We also spoke to Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes, who produced and wrote the script for this latest incarnation of Romeo and Juliet. He tells us he had his work cut out for him in crafting the screenplay and attempting to make it more modern while staying true to Shakespeare’s original work.
